The Beijing Express Rolls out on its maiden run |
Team IP’s version of a rock and roll tour, city to city exhibit, softballmobile or barnstorming truck The Beijing Express rolled out of Port St. Lucie just after dawn this morning for its inaugural stop on the Bound 4 Beijing tour at tonight’s exhibition game featuring the worlds number one women’s fast pitch squad, Team USA in Altamonte Springs, FL. The Beijing Express will follow in support at over 30 stops of the tour crossing America offering Team IP’s outstanding line of Bound 4 Beijing merchandise. During the course of the tour it is estimated that The Beijing Express will roll up in excess of 30,000 miles!
The Beijing Express as pictured in this article is a real show stopper in itself showcasing this great team on this their final tour across America in preparation of the Summer Olympiad to be held this year in Beijing, China.
During the creation process outside in sunny Ft. Pierce, Florida people were already stopping by to have a picture made with this beautiful vehicle. It is reported that heads are turning and horns are blowing as The Beijing Express rolls up The Florida Turnpike this morning to Altamonte Springs.
Randy Sparks the CEO of Team IP who commissioned the vehicle to be created said, “It is a real show stopper and should assist in gaining a lot of attention for the Bound 4 Beijing tour and Team USA.” Randy further stated, “Hats off to Jason Tanner the Art Director at Team IP for doing an incredible job in the creation of this one off design! It is very detailed and the colors come through brilliantly” It is reported that the art files for this vehicle were so large that they had to be transported for production in Florida via Fed/EX on DVDs. They were impossible to email thru any server due to the size and detail in the files.

Terry Hasseltine, Assistant Deputy Director Of the Kentucky Sports Authority explained to Alison Mitchell of Sports Events Magazine that most national governing bodies and events rights holders that he has worked a contract with a third-party vendor to handle the event merchandising so that there is better control over the brand and marketing. “Organizations spend a lot of money to create a design and logo, so they don’t want to lose revenue to improper merchandising,” he said.
One such company that Hasseltine has worked with is Team IP Sports, an apparel decorating and national event marketing company based in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Team IP partners with sports organizations, such as AAU, NFHS, NCAA, BCS and many others.
“Sometimes when you walk up to a vendor table or event tent, you have to rifle through stacks and boxes to pick out something,” Hasseltine said. “But this vendor really sets everything up so that you know what you are getting.” |

Team IP Named to Inc. 5000 |
Inc. today ranked Team IP of Port St. Lucie, FL and Owensboro, KY #4629 on its first-ever Inc. 5,000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. The Inc. 5,000, an extension of Inc. magazine’s annual Inc. 500 list, catches many businesses that are too big to grow at the pace required to make the Inc. 500, as well as a host of smaller firms. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.
“The Inc. 5,000 provides the most comprehensive look ever at the most important part of the economy – the entrepreneurial part,” said Inc. 5,000 Project Manager Jim Melloan. “The expansion of the list has allowed us to tell the stories of larger companies, older companies, and a wealth of companies in industries like Manufacturing and Construction that are underreported in the business media.
For more than 25 years, Inc. magazine has celebrated the remarkable achievements of today’s entrepreneurial superstars—the men and women leading the 500 fastest-growing, private companies in America—with the annual Inc. 500 list.
Each year, the Inc. 500 Conference and Awards Ceremony brings together both a new class of Inc. 500 honorees and the list’s alumni for three days of powerful networking, inspired learning, and momentous celebration.
This year, Inc.com will present the Inc. 5,000—the first ever expansion of the Inc. 500 list. These new honorees will also join the festivities, bringing the excitement of the 26th Annual Inc. 500 Conference and Awards Ceremony to an unprecedented level.
The Conference will be conducted this year in Chicago, IL September 6-8, at the Chicago Hilton. This year’s keynote speaker will be former President Bill Clinton.
The 2007 Inc. 5,000, as revealed online at www.inc.com, reported median revenue of $9.4 million and median three-year growth of 140 percent. Complete information on this year’s Inc. 5,000, can be found at www.inc.com/inc5000. The list features a profile for each company, almost all of them written as a result of Inc. interviews with management. In addition, the list is searchable according to numerous criteria, including industry, city, state, region, and year founded.

Pros of Promotion |
Despite a new showroom at 408 E. Second St., ADventures, an advertising specialties and design service, is one of Owensboro's best-kept secrets.
"They're amazing, and nobody seems to know they're here," Kara Conner, a member of the Fun Committee at U.S. Bank Home Mortgage and a middle school basketball coach, said last week.
"I keep them in business," she said. "We order a lot of stuff from them. We have close to 650 employees here. And ADventures makes T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, pens, pencils and a lot of other stuff for them. And my basketball team uses them too."
ADventures, a division of Owensboro-based WaxWorks/VideoWorks Inc., actually has roughly 200 local accounts along with contracts with Hollywood movie studios and Florida-based Team IP Sportswear.
WaxWorks is a major national distributor of DVDs.
And Dale Taylor, WaxWorks' vice president for human resources, said ADventures began eight years ago as a way to create promotional items for movie companies to give to video stores.
Clients have included Disney, MGM and Paramount, he said.
Promotional items have included "Top Gun" baseball caps and "Men in Black" sunglasses.
But back then, ADventures didn't do its own production. It hired other companies to do the silk-screen printing and embroidering.
"The Team IP account (last year) let us buy our own equipment, and that makes a big difference," Taylor said.
Jim Voyles of Owensboro joined Team IP in 2003 as national director of sales and marketing.
The Port St. Lucie, Fla., company bills itself as "the nation's leading provider of sporting event apparel and novelties."
In January 2006, Voyles became vice president of the company and contracted with ADventures to move some of the Team IP's production to Owensboro.
Last month, Voyles became president of the 15-year-old company.
15 states eventually
"We could eventually produce products for 15 states in Owensboro," he said recently. "ADventures is great. They do quality work, and we have a great working relationship. They understand us."
Team IP has contracts to produce all clothing and novelty items for each of the state tournaments operated by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and the Mississippi High School Athletic Association, among other states.
"Just about all of our Kentucky youth athletic events products are made here," Voyles said. "Things like T-shirts, caps, shorts, jackets. Time is a factor. We don't get the names of the athletes in the state tournaments until Saturday night, and we need the shirts by Wednesday. ADventures can do that for us."
Team IP puts the names of all the athletes on the shirts, he said.
"It gives them a sense of ownership," Voyles said. "We have one shirt with 2,000 names on it."
Last year, he said, Mississippi athletics products were also made in Owensboro.
"Right now, we're just doing Kentucky here," Voyles said.
Owensboro is within a day's drive of two-thirds of the nation's population, he said.
Voyles said Team IP recently signed contracts to produce clothing and other items for fencing and water-skiing, and "we already do judo and tae kwon do. It's not just baseball, softball and basketball."
All high school sports including wrestling, swimming and diving are included in the Kentucky contract, he said.
"When we opened our showroom last summer and bought our own equipment, the business really began to take off," said Terry Woodward, the company's owner.
"Team IP's business alone will about pay the rent," he said.
Actually, there is no rent because Woodward owns the building.
"We don't depend on them solely," he said. "We have clients like Brewco Motorsports, and we've established a nice relationship with several businesses in the community."
Only five employees
ADventures produces thousands of items a year with only five employees, plus four graphic designers at WaxWorks.
All the embroidery work is done in Owensboro with a machine that can embroider on six items at once.
Silk-screen printing is done at K&N Printing in Hawesville.
"We own the equipment and contract with them to do the work there," Taylor said.
"Having the showroom is a big help because people can come in and select what they want," he said. "We also take samples to them."
